Want to experience the mysteries of life under the water? Warm, clear seas with hundreds of varieties of reef fish and other aquatic life make the Big Island the perfect place to explore this habitat. View the wonders of ocean reefs habitats from just under the surface, delve into it with snuba or scuba diving, or be mesmerized from the comfort of a submarine.
Snorkeling: Purchase your own inexpensive snorkel gear at local Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or Target stores, rent from various companies listed below, or go on an ocean tour that provides gear for you (see Ocean Close Encounters).
Snuba: Not sure about scuba diving? Swim with a 25 ft. hose below a raft that hold the tanks.
Scuba: All companies have special spots where they take you to see reef or other underwater life. For the adventurous, try the popular Manta Ray Night Dive (see Ocean Close Encounters). Several companies provide instructions and supervised dives for beginners.
Submarine: Atlantis Submarine is the way to go if you want to see the underwater world of the ocean without getting wet.
